Hamburg, March 7, 2026 – Air Similan has reached a new milestone in the modernization of its fleet with the rollout of its very first Airbus A321neoLR, assembled on Airbus production lines in Hamburg-Finkenwerder. Registered F-MFJA and named “Fontainebleau”, the aircraft becomes the first A321neo in the airline’s fleet and the first of a series of five aircraft on order.

A Key New Aircraft for the Air Similan Network

The introduction of the Airbus A321neoLR represents a significant step in the airline’s operational strategy. With a range of up to 7,400 kilometers, this next-generation single-aisle aircraft enables longer routes while maintaining the economic efficiency of the A320 family.

This capability provides Air Similan with increased flexibility in developing its network. The A321neoLR will allow the airline to open extended medium-haul routes, operate certain lower-density long-haul services, and offer a premium product on selected strategic European destinations.

The aircraft therefore integrates naturally into the airline’s fleet, creating an operational bridge between existing single-aisle aircraft and the long-haul aircraft operated by Air Similan.

Technological Continuity with CFM Engines

Air Similan has chosen to equip its Airbus A321neoLR aircraft with CFM LEAP engines, continuing an established industrial consistency across its fleet.

The airline already operates CFM56 engines on its Airbus A319, Airbus A320, and Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The introduction of LEAP engines preserves this continuity while benefiting from the latest technological advancements, including significantly lower fuel consumption, enhanced performance, and a reduced noise footprint.

A Premium Cabin on a Long-Range Single-Aisle Aircraft

Air Similan’s Airbus A321neoLR aircraft will feature a low-density two-class configuration with 175 seats, emphasizing passenger comfort and a high-quality onboard experience.

The Business Class cabin will include 16 Thompson Aero Vantage seats, arranged in an alternating 2-2 and 1-1 layout, accommodating both passengers traveling together and solo travelers seeking greater privacy.

Each seat, 21 inches (53 cm) wide, converts into a fully flat bed nearly 6 feet 3 inches (1.90 m) long, delivering a level of comfort rarely found on single-aisle aircraft. Passengers will also benefit from multiple storage compartments, a 17-inch 4K touchscreen, a wireless charging pad, as well as fast-charging USB-A and USB-C ports.

The Economy cabin will feature 159 Recaro CL3710 seats in a 3-3 configuration. These latest-generation seats, slimmer yet ergonomic, offer optimized legroom and include a 13.3-inch individual 4K screen along with USB-A and USB-C ports.

A Next-Generation Entertainment and Connectivity System

Building on the standards introduced with the recent entry into service of the Airbus A350 in the fleet, the A321neoLR will feature a fully modernized entertainment and connectivity system.

The aircraft will be equipped with next-generation high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing passengers to browse, work, or stream content seamlessly throughout the flight.

Each seat will also feature Bluetooth connectivity, enabling passengers to connect their personal headphones or earbuds directly to the inflight entertainment system without cables or adapters.

“Fontainebleau”, a Name Steeped in History

Air Similan’s first Airbus A321neoLR will bear the name “Fontainebleau”, in tribute to the historic town in the Seine-et-Marne region and its renowned château, one of the most significant palaces in French history. A royal residence for nearly eight centuries, from Francis I to Napoleon I, Fontainebleau stands as a landmark of France’s political and cultural heritage.

This choice reflects the airline’s tradition of naming its aircraft after cities or emblematic locations, celebrating the richness of France’s cultural and geographical heritage around the world.

A New Milestone in Fleet Transformation

“The arrival of our first Airbus A321neoLR marks a major milestone in the modernization of our single-aisle fleet. This aircraft combines extended range, next-generation performance, and a premium passenger experience while opening new opportunities for the development of our network”, said the Air Similan team.

Following its rollout in Hamburg-Finkenwerder, F-MFJA “Fontainebleau” will soon begin its testing and integration phase ahead of its gradual entry into service within the Air Similan fleet, scheduled for the second quarter of 2026.
